High-Poly Performance

Build the form, then choose the detail.

HardCuts combines high-poly modeling, voxel operations and surface brushes in a native C++ application. Choose a working resolution that fits the current stage of the model and the details you need to preserve.

Try it in HardCuts

Work at the resolution the shape needs

A smaller voxel size supports finer details and uses more memory and processing time. A larger size produces a coarser result and can remove small holes, narrow gaps and thin walls. Judge the resolution against the smallest feature that must survive the next operation.

Inspect the grid before remeshing

Open Voxel Remesh from the toolbar, Actions Panel or Surface context menu. Adjust the interactive grid with the mouse wheel, plus and minus keys or numeric input. Enter applies the chosen resolution and Escape cancels. Remeshing cannot restore detail already lost in an earlier coarse operation.

Prepare the next stage

Inspect the surface and use local smoothing or surface cleanup where needed. When the next workflow needs a lighter mesh, use retopology and baking to prepare a separate low-poly target while keeping the high-poly source for later changes.

Good to know

Is the finest voxel size always the best choice?

No. Finer resolution increases processing time and memory use. Choose it for the details the geometry must represent and save a project version before a substantial resolution change.
