Interface and Navigation
Navigate the viewport and arrange models, lights, and panels.
Updated
HardCuts Render centers the workflow on the viewport. Select an item to show its relevant settings in Properties.
Main panels
| Panel | Use |
|---|---|
| Scene | Select models and lights and organize the scene view. |
| Properties | Edit the selected item's transform, light settings, or material layers. |
| Studio Library | Choose Studios, HDRI environments, and Materials. |
| Render Settings | Edit Scene, Post, and Output settings. |
| Tools | Use the Paint tools and adjust the brush while painting materials or masks. |
Use the View menu to show panels that have been closed.
Navigate the camera
These are the HardCuts default navigation bindings:
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Middle mouse drag | Orbit. |
| Shift + middle mouse drag | Pan. |
| Mouse wheel | Zoom. |
| F, with no paint brush active | Frame the selected model. |
View > Frame Selected also frames the selection. View > Reset Camera resets the camera. View > Instant Look changes the wider presentation setup as described in Getting Started.
While painting, F adjusts the brush radius instead of framing. Camera bindings can differ when a different shared HardCuts navigation preset has been configured.
Select and transform
Click a model or light in the viewport or the Scene panel. For models, use Properties > Item for numeric Position, Rotation, and Scale.
With focus in the viewport:
| Key | Transform |
|---|---|
| W | Move |
| E | Rotate |
| R | Scale |
Choose World or Local in the toolbar to orient model transform axes. During a transform drag, hold Shift for precision or Ctrl for snapping.
Use Ctrl+D to duplicate the selected model or light and Delete to remove it. Edit > Undo and Edit > Redo let you step through edits.
Preview quality
The toolbar's Preview selector offers Fast, Balanced, and Final Preview. These settings control the viewport's ambient occlusion resolution, sampling, and filtering.
Use a lighter setting while arranging the scene, then inspect details at higher quality. Set the actual image size separately in Rendering and Export.
