Scene Objects and Transforms

Select, transform, organize, and combine objects in the scene.

A confirmed shape becomes a scene object. Use the outliner's Objects tab to find objects when the viewport is crowded.

Select and name objects

Select an object in the viewport or outliner. Its Item properties include the name, Position, Rotation, Scale, and geometry statistics.

Give parts descriptive names before building a larger assembly. This also makes them easier to identify after a render handoff or export.

Transform a selection

Press W for Move, E for Rotate, or R for Scale, then drag a gizmo handle. Use numeric Item properties when you need exact values.

The viewport toolbar provides axis constraints. Its object snapping choices are Off, Pivot, Face, and Face + Align. Choose the snapping behavior that matches the placement task.

Frame the selection with F in object context when the gizmo or object is difficult to find.

Organize a hierarchy

Select objects, then right-click and choose Group Selection to put them into a new group. Use New Empty Group in the context menu to create an empty group. Right-click a group and choose New Subgroup to nest groups.

Drag objects or groups to move them within the hierarchy. Multiple selected items move together. Drop them at the top level to move them out of their current parent. Moving, rotating, or scaling a group also transforms its contents. Group creation and hierarchy moves support Undo and Redo, and the hierarchy is saved with the project.

Use Ungroup (keep contents) to remove a group while keeping its contents at the next level up. Delete removes the entire selection; selected groups are deleted together with all their contents, including nested groups. Undo restores the deleted objects and hierarchy.

Use Edit > Copy and Edit > Paste to reuse an object. For regularly spaced repetition, use Arrays and Symmetry.

Visibility and Solo

Click Visible on a selected row to show or hide the entire selection. Clicking an unselected row's checkbox affects that row alone. These clicks keep both the selection and the active object unchanged.

Hiding a group hides everything inside it, including subgroups. Individual visibility checkboxes are preserved, so showing the group restores which of its contents were visible.

Click Solo beside an object to see only that object, including when it was hidden. Solo on a group shows its contents. Click again, or right-click the soloed item and choose Exit Solo, to restore the previous visibility. Switching Solo to another object keeps the original visibility state. Solo is temporary and is not saved into the project.

Join selected objects

Select multiple objects and use Join from the outliner context menu to combine them into one scene object.

Joining is useful for organizing a result as one object. When overlapping parts need a solid boolean combination, use Union as described in Booleans and Cutters.

Clean up or reuse a part

Right-click an object to access Surface operations such as Voxel Remesh, Smooth..., Hollow..., and Relax Surface.

Use Create Asset to store the selected part in the Asset Library. Use Delete in the context menu or Edit > Delete to remove the selection; Undo lets you recover from an accidental deletion.
