Troubleshooting
Find the cause of common selection, tool, resolution, and import problems.
Updated
The viewport's instruction and status text explains what the active tool expects. Check it first when a click or shortcut does something unexpected.
The Actions Panel shows the wrong controls
Check the active context. A shape preview, selected scene object, brush, and specialized tool have different actions.
Finish or cancel the active gesture, select the intended object, and press Q. See Interface and Navigation.
A shape is visible but is not a scene object
It may still be an editable preview. Choose Create for a 3D shape or Add for a drawn 2D shape in the Actions Panel, then use the confirmation gesture shown in the viewport.
For most completed 2D and 3D previews, Enter applies the shape. A boolean operation also needs a target; use Ctrl+Click on that object.
A boolean does not create the intended hole
Check that the cutter overlaps the target and extends through its full thickness for a through-hole.
Check the operation and target. If the feature is too small for the working resolution, try a finer Voxel Remesh before repeating the cut.
Fine details disappear after remeshing
The voxel size may be too large for the feature. Undo, reduce voxel size, and retry. Increasing resolution later cannot reconstruct detail already removed from the current geometry.
Extrude does not accept the sketch
Finish or cancel any open drawing draft. Check that a closed region exists, and select one when multiple regions are present.
Construction geometry does not define a filled region. See Sketches and Extrusion.
An imported mesh looks different
Check the import Representation. Rebuild Display Mesh From SDF replaces the visible mesh with a surface at the chosen voxel size.
Use Preserve Imported Mesh + Build SDF when you want to keep the imported display mesh initially, and review the mesh health report.
A shortcut does something different from this guide
Keys depend on context and custom preferences. For example, F can frame a selection or adjust a brush radius. Check Edit > Preferences... and the active tool's viewport instructions.
Saving, import, or export asks for a license
The current build requires a valid HardCuts license for these features. Use Import License File... or paste the license text and choose Activate Pasted License. The accepted license is stored locally for later starts.
The Blender result does not arrive
Verify the shared Bridge Root, the active mesh, and its linked-object status. Use the explicit receive command on the destination side. See Blender Bridge.
