Background and Ground

Set the backdrop and fit a ground surface below the model.

Updated

Background and ground settings are in Render Settings > Scene. The background fills the view; the ground is a surface beneath the model.

Set the background

In the Studio group, enable Background and choose a Backdrop Mode.

  • Ambient Sky uses an environment-based background.
  • Solid Color uses Background Color.

Adjust Backdrop Brightness and Backdrop Blur where applicable. The visible backdrop and the environment lighting have separate controls, so use Environment when you intend to change lighting strength.

Fit the ground

  1. Enable Ground > Visible.
  2. Click Fit to Visible Models.
  3. Check the model from the side to confirm that it sits on the ground.
  4. Adjust Height and Size if needed.

Color sets the stage color. Roughness controls its surface response. Use Background Color copies the current background color to the ground; it is an action to copy the color, rather than a permanent link.

Toggle Grid Lines when you need a placement aid.

Prepare a transparent image

Enable Transparent background in Render Settings > Output to render alpha behind the scene.

The ground remains a visible surface when enabled. Turn off Ground > Visible if the image should contain only the model. Do not expect the ground to become an invisible shadow catcher automatically.
