Preparing for 3D Printing

Use the print workflow when physical dimensions and printability checks matter.

Check the selected object

1. Select the object.
2. Open its Print properties.
3. Review Print Profile, Project Unit, and Dimensions.
4. Click Analyze and review the reported issues.

Check physical dimensions before exporting. A model that looks correctly sized in the viewport can still have the wrong intended printing scale.

Configure defaults

Open Edit > Preferences... > 3D Printing to set the default profile, export format, preflight behavior, and slicer paths.

These defaults seed new projects. Settings loaded with an existing project can override them.

The preflight preferences include Stop export when blockers are present and Require confirmation when warnings are present.

Export for printing

1. Choose File > Export > For Printing....
2. Select Print profile and Export format.
3. Review the preflight summary and issue details.
4. Resolve blockers or follow the displayed warning policy.
5. Click Export and choose the destination.

The implemented print formats are 3MF and STL. Print export converts the geometry using the project's measurement settings.

Review hollow and thin parts

Use Surface > Hollow... from the object context menu when you need the hollowing workflow. Analyze the result again after changing wall thickness, cuts, or scale.

A successful export means a file was written. Inspect the result in the slicer, including dimensions, walls, and supports, before printing.
